Coach Andrew Hutchinson is a NFHS-qualified high school athletics coach. He ran competitively all four years in college at the NCAA Division III level, and he is the author of "The Complete History of Cross-Country Running."
At Lake Forest College in cross-country, Andrew helped lead the Foresters to four-straight Midwest Regional berths and lowered his personal record to 27:06 (8K) while never missing a race. Consistency and steady improvement saw Andrew become a three-year captain, twice most valuable and once most improved for the team. As a high school coach in California, Andrew grew his programs four-fold, earning notoriety for achieving the fastest team-times in school history. He coached athletes to the CIF State Meet in both cross-country and track and field multiple years. His greatest memory was attending Nike Cross Nationals twice, in 2010 and 2011.
Currently Andrew lives and trains in the Bay Area and is focused on lowering his own road-racing times from the 5K to the half marathon. His greatest joy, however, is running the trails. In 2012 he began writing a comprehensive history book on the sport of cross-country running. His research allowed him to travel and teach internationally, and it has connected him with a variety of Olympians and elite runners. His book is available January 2, 2018.
